This webpage is modeled on our Digital Instruments "Dimension 3100" SPM at the University of Virginia.
At the left, a PC drives two computer monitors: the left displays the instrument′s operating software; the right displays the data it collects.
The SPM sits on a heavy anti-vibration table, inside a special acoustic enclosure. This is necessary because the SPM operates at such high magnification that even soft voices would vibrate the instrument to the degree that images would blur.
